Laughing Gas Celebrates Alex Trebek's Birthday
Receives Thanks from Alex Trebek
The Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company, South Florida's longest running professional improv troupe, recently performed a birthday tribute show to Alex Trebek in their Double Jeopardy! shows. Audiences roared their approval with laughter and cast and audience members signed a birthday card to everyones' favorite Canadian game show host, Alex Trebek.
The birthday card was sent to Mr. Trebek and he responded with a show of appreciation with an autographed photo personalized to Laughing Gas. It says, "Thanks for playing along with 'Laughing Gas.' All the best. Alex Trebek.
The show was featured in the Miami Herald, the Miami New Times, and the Sun Sentinel.
"I'm suprised at the attention we received," said Todd Rice (who directed the shows). "I just wanted to celebrate a love for a show that challenges you and thought he might get a kick out of it. It's nice to see I wasn't alone in liking the idea. And the picture...great guy!"
Laughing Gas is hoping to relive the show on his birthday next year, which will be on a Saturday.
In the meantime, you can catch a show from Laughing Gas every Friday and Saturday night at 11pm in Miami Lakes at the Main Street Playhouse. No show is ever the same and we lampoon popular culture like no one else.
