Laughing Gas Press Release 4/21/2005

Laughing Gas Helps Support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society "Team in Training" on May 19th

The Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company, South Florida's longest-running improv troupe, will perform to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society "Team in Training" program in conjunction with the Main Street Playhouse in Miami Lakes at 8pm on Thursday night, May 19th.

The show will consist of 90 minutes of improvised comedy as a way of saying thanks to the audience for their donations to this worthy cause. There is a $10 minimum donation to attend the event and proceeds will go directly to the "Team in Training" program of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, with the money being used to fight blood cancers. Additional donations are certainly encouraged and may be given through the local organizers website at .

"We're proud to be doing what we can to help this worthy cause," said Laughing Gas Director Gerald Owens. "It's nice when we can help while also making people laugh."

"In only the U.S., nearly 300 people a day learn they have Leukemia, Lymphoma or Myeloma," said TEAM member Natacha Garcia. "Not to mention that Leukemia research is considered the 'window' to treatment and cure for all cancers. This is an organization that can really make a difference."

"Leukemia is the number one leading cause of death in children between the ages of 1 and 5," said TEAM member Lisette Gutierrez. "I am proud to be fundraising to find a cure so that parents of children with Leukemia will be able to help their kids live a normal and long life."

This show is part of Laughing Gas' "Improv-ing The Community" effort to improve the community as a whole through their performances and good works. Over the past several months, Laughing Gas has performed shows to "Improv The Vote", Em-ceed a Tsunami benefit, and helped raise money for charities with their "Improv-ing The Community" campaign. Laughing Gas has been picked as a Social Miami "Pick of the Week" several times for their themed shows and is regularly recognized for its socially relevant material.
