Laughing Gas Comedy Improv sets auditions, prepares for new season
Fresh off a win at the 2005 Improv Miami prizes, the Laughing Gas Comedy Improv Theatre Company launches its 14th season the weekend of January 6 and 7, and resumes its weekly performances at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street. Shows are at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and admission is $10 per person, with no age restriction and no drink minimum.
Shows run about 90 minutes, and each performance reflects the news and events of the week, with titles and content always subject to change. The topics include politics, popular culture, family values, social issues and more in a series of improvised sketches and musical numbers.
Impy win
In the second annual Improv Miami Prizes, the troupe won the 2005 Impy award for Miami Dade's best short-form improv troupe. The Impy awards recognize and promote improvisation as an art form in South Florida. The awards are coordinated by ImprovMiami.com, a guide for South Florida improvisational theatre, which provides information about local troupes and performances at www.improvmiami.com.
Auditions
Laughing Gas is looking for improvisational actors and actresses, age 18 and older, to join the troupe. Auditional are at 9 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, at Peaches School of Dance, 2018 N.E. 155th Street, North Miami Beach. Call for an appointment or visit laughinggasimprov.com.
